On April 17, 2026, Celine Dion released Dansons, her first original single in seven years. The track was written by Jean-Jacques Goldman, produced by Goldman, Luc Leroy and Yann Mace. Thirty years after D'eux, the most famous duo in French-language music reunited.
Thirty years apart
The last studio collaboration between Goldman and Celine dated back to Encore un soir, released in 2016 and written as a tribute to Rene Angelil, who had passed away a few months earlier. Since then, Goldman had become even more discreet than usual. The return of this duo for Dansons was therefore an event in itself.
Between D'eux (1995) and Dansons (2026), the world changed, Celine changed. She went through grief, illness, forced absence from the stage. Goldman knows this trajectory. He has written for her in moments of joy as well as moments of pain.
A ballad about hope
Dansons is an intimate ballad about hope and rediscovered movement. The title is no coincidence: dancing is exactly what stiff person syndrome had threatened to take from her. The song is an invitation to move forward, to start moving again, addressed as much to Celine as to those who waited for her.
The single debuted at number 1 in Quebec and reached number 3 in Belgium. Critics praised the sobriety of the production and the accuracy of Goldman's lyrics.
Coming full circle
In 1995, Goldman wrote Pour que tu m'aimes encore, and all of France sang along with Celine. In 2026, he wrote Dansons, and the whole world awaits her return. The circle will definitively close on the stage of Paris La Defense Arena, where the 26 residency concerts will allow fans to hear this track live for the very first time.
